This is an entire movie about Spock realizing he’s the swooner, not the catcher
Its nice to see the whole failed rescue dynamic were for once the girl is appreciative of the rescue effort that didn’t go according to plan. Unlike some movies were the girl looks down on the guy who tried to save her. Like come on, they put their lives at risk, yeah they failed but at least they tried. They may have even knew they were going to fail and still tried.
